Grace In Action, a Reflection by David C. Urlaub

We continue to preach the gracious love of God for people. Transformed by this gracious love, we strive to serve the least ones in our community and across the world. Thank you for your continued financial and volunteer support. Remember to fill out your Estimate of Giving forms by Sunday October 28. The following is a reflection from member, David Urlaab, on what it means to him to be Blessed to be a Blessing.
6 The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. 9 As it is written,
“He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor;
his righteousness[a] endures forever.”
2 Corinthians 9: 6-9

Ellie and I have been attending services here for nearly one year. During that time we have noticed all of the things Ascension does for members and the community. It is easy to take for granted that this just happens and we tend to forget how this church blesses us and the community. We must remember that these blessings are made possible by generous giving by members. If you are able to tithe, that is a great way to give God the first fruits of your labor. I think the most important thing is to give cheerfully as you are able.
