Take Notice, by Patrick DeLoughry: Advent Day 21
Posted on December 21, 2019 | Posted by Mary Stoneback
I’ve always felt like Christmas was a magical time of year. The family, the friends, the food. But there’s always been something else that made this time of year feel special. During any other time of year, we tend to think of nighttime as a time of darkness. But during Christmas, even when the days are shorter than ever, nighttime is a time of light. Whether it’s Christmas trees, lights, candles or nativities, the night is illuminated in a way that you only see during Christmas. It’s the contrast against the darkness that makes these lights sparkle and causes us to take notice. The light of Christmas literally penetrates the darkness of winter and gives us hope for the season to come.
Dear Lord, thank you the gift of Your light during this seasonal darkness. Thank you for instilling the magic of Advent in our hearts through the decorations we see every day during this time of year. Amen.
