Faith Seeking Understanding
Posted on May 21, 2024 | Posted by Pastor Daniel
Faith Seeking Understanding is Ascension’s book, podcast, and occasional movie club! We discuss works of non-fiction, with some dabbling of fiction thrown in. Usually we’ll address a timely topic. We’ve read books and listened to podcasts on homelessness, racism, poverty, criminal justice, gun violence, climate change, elder care, and more. We meet most 4th Mondays, with occasional changes to the calendar. Our next discussion is …
What’s next for the Colorado River?
In June we’ll discuss the podcast series “Thirst Gap,” which explores the changing Colorado River and how the West needs to adjust to less water and more draws on it. This is a local podcast, put together by public radio station KUNC and the Colorado Water Center. I’ve found the science, ethics, and politics of the Colorado River interesting for a while, and I’m glad to find a podcast that approaches it well.
We’re making a bit of a change to our normal schedule. Here are the details:
- Monday, June 3, we’ll discuss the first three episodes: “Wishing Up a River,” “Cash Flows,” and “The Big Empty”
- Monday June 24th we’ll discuss the final three episodes: “A Crackdown in Sin City,” “First in Time,” and “Where the River Ends”
- We meet at church with a potluck at 5:30. Those who would rather join via zoom can log on at 5:45.
