Join the Ascension Book & Podcast Club for a Discussion on “Finn and the Bell” – October 28, 6 PM
Faith Seeking Understanding is Ascension’s book, podcast, and occasional movie club! We discuss works of non-fiction, with some dabbling of fiction thrown in. Usually we’ll address a timely topic. We’ve read books and listened to podcasts on homelessness, racism, poverty, criminal justice, gun violence, climate change, elder care, and more. We meet most 4th Mondays, with occasional changes to the calendar. Our next discussion is …
Finn and the Bell
In October we’ll discuss the podcast episode “Finn and the Bell.” This beautifully put together audio documentary follows the story of a family, school, and town’s response to a student’s suicide. The Peabody-winning episode was made by the Rumble Strip podcast, but I first heard it on Radiolab, and I encourage you to listen there as a brief follow-up to the episode airs at the end.
Be advised: This episode is a tear-jerker for anyone and could be really hard for those who struggle with stories of suicide.
