A Simple Religion
“It is not good asking for a simple religion. After all, real things are not simple.” —C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity This statement might cause you to jolt in your chair and spill your coffee. If so, congratulations–that was C.S. Lewis’ goal all along. I’m only sorry your lap stings from hot beverage spillage! When I […]

6/19/16 – 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 – Reconciliation
Pastor Daniel’s Sermon for June 19, 2016 Text: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade others; but we ourselves are well known to God, and I hope that we are also well known to your consciences. We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an […]

Orlando and July 4th
I am writing this shortly after the terrorist attack in Orlando. It looks like an ISIS inspired terrorist attack by an angry young Muslim man. For whatever his reasons, he decided to kill and wound people in the LGBT community which has already suffered so much from hate crimes. I am sad and sick about […]

Bells and Veterans
Recently, our Ascending Praises Bell Choir performed at Bruce McCandless Veteran’s Home in Florence, CO. They proclaimed it an “awesome” experience and especially enjoyed playing and singing the National Anthem with the veterans. Thanks Bell Choir for all you do, and the lovely music you share! Also, cool tank.

Singing in the Park
About 125 folks from six congregations filled Palmer Park with music and laughter at our first Picnic and Hymn sing in Palmer Park. Choirs, bells, flutes, and guitars lead us in song. Watermelon, chips, dips, and cookies led us in eating. Join us again next time, when we hope the weather will be just as […]

Babies Yay!
The Ascension community has been blessed with a lot of new life recently, and we celebrate that! We’ve asked parents to tell us more about their babies, so we can all get a glimpse into the people they’re developing into. Special thanks to the families who sent in the pictures and fun facts. Enjoy! […]

The Good Samaritan Retold
“‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this–you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” –Mark […]

Listening to those who haven’t yet forgotten
“Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these as the kingdom of God belongs.” – Jesus, Mark 10:14 I recently heard an old Hebrew proverb: Just before a baby is born, the angel Gabriel tells them everything, all the secrets of God and the […]

5/29/16 – Forgiveness and a New Category – 2 Corinthians 2:1-11
Pastor Daniel’s sermon for 5/29/16 Text: 2 Corinthians 2:1-11 So I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit. For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained? And I wrote as I did, so that when I came, I might […]
